    Girl Scouts has been the nation’s leading expert on girls for nearly 100 years. No other activity helps each girl achieve her personal leadership pathway like Girl Scouts. Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts is your local enrichment experience for girls, focusing on girl-planned, hands-on learning that’s fun. Today’s Girl Scouting experience has the same sound values as yesterday, but it is updated to meet the current needs of girls.

    THE NEW LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE

    Girls today believe that a leader is defined by how she uses her qualities and skills to make a difference in the world. They want to be the kind of leader who "stands up for his or her beliefs and values," and "tries to change the world for the better." Leadership is "knowing what you believe and putting it into action." The New Leadership Experience meets girls' definition of what it takes to be a leader. This model is inclusive and empowering, encourage experiential and cooperative learning.

    LEADERSHIP & SELF ESTEEM

    Through activities that build self-confidence, creative decision-making skills and teamwork, girls develop real-world leadership abilities that will last them a lifetime. By working toward earned awards, girls interview female leaders, set goals, build team spirit and communication skills, develop successful problem-solving techniques, and learn to trust themselves in any situation.

  • ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS

    ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS

    Girl Scouts see Earth as their home. Whether they're learning about endangered wildlife, developing creative recycling projects, or working towards awards such as the Environmental Health Badge or the Eco-Action Interest Project Award, girls focus on conservation, responsibility, and ensuring the safety of our planet for future generations.

    FINANCIAL LITERACY

    Through activities such as the Girl Scout cookie sale, girls develop money management skills. They also learn to increase their income, become responsible consumers, create a budget, build and manage credit, and save and invest for whatever's next.

    HEALTH & WELLNESS

    Girl Scouts build the skills they need to keep their bodies healthy, their minds engaged, and their spirits alive through participation in innovative wellness programs and by talking with leaders about issues of concern in their lives.

  • DIVERSITY INITIATIVES

    SCIENCE, TECH, ENG & MATH

    The Girl Scouts welcomes all girls ages 5-17, embracing diversity in race, ethnicity, religion, socio-economic status, sexual orientation and opinion. We offer troops, short series of activities and after-school programs so transportation and availability is never an obstacle. GSEM promotes diversity in program and membership, so Girl Scouts is a real world leadership experience for all.

    We collaborate with other non-profits, offering programs with partners in many communities. Diversity Initiatives focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math; Leadership and Life Skills; and Health and Fitness.

  • CAMPING & OUTDOOR ADVENTURES

    OUTDOOR ADVENTURES

    Troops can request programs on boating, climbing, ropes, archery and challenge courses at camps, on dates and times that are convenient for them. A specialist will meet them at camp, where they will take advantage of special equipment and facilities.
