Training

Training is a fun and rewarding way to kick-off your volunteer experience with Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts. The training sessions that we offer will give you the skills you need in order for girls and you to have the ultimate Girl Scout experience.

*** Thank you to the 2007 Volunteer Trainers! ***

Thank you to all the Volunteer Trainers who throughout 2007 provided new and seasoned volunteers with adult learning opportunities. Council Trainers are qualified through a full-day "Train the Trainer" course. In addition to the time they give, Volunteer Trainers also secure free, accessible, local spaces to hold their trainings and keep abreast of new changes from GSUSA and our council. They also arrange to pick up all the training materials and turn in course rosters so that volunteer training records can be updated. There is a great deal of commitment on the part of the Volunteer Trainers and for that we thank them all!

Training Guide

Here is an easy way to see which training sessions you need to participate in:

Training needed for each volunteer position

If you are a...	You Need...
New Leader/Co-Leader	Orientation and Basic Leadership
New Leader/Co-Leader	Age Level Training (Daisy, Brownie, Junior or Advisor)
Leader w/ new level	Appropriate Age Level Training
First Aider	Approved First Aid/CPR training
Troop Camper	Basic Troop Camping (Intro/Planning (now one course) and Overnight)

Training required for activities

If your troop wants to...	You Need...
Cook with fires or cookstoves	First Aider and Basic Troop Camp (Introduction)
Overnight at a GSPTC property, Camp in park, private or Public site	First Aider and Full Troop Camper
Have meetings, field trips, Day trips	First Aider
Simple overnight 1-2 nights Museum, house, hostel, hotel	First Aider and trained Leader or Troop Camper
